Welcome to the inaugural Melissa Global Address newsletter. We are excited to use this newsletter to highlight improvements and new features for our Global Address products. Update each quarter, we are continually improving and maintaining our Global Address product to keep it the best global engine available anywhere. We look forward to meeting you here every quarter to show you what we have improved and what we are aiming to do in the future.

- 2023 Q1 -

In Q1 we expanded our country coverage and established a new partnership to continue our reach across the global market. 

Andorra

Andorra is a small country between France and Spain. Uniquely, they do not have their own postal authority but their postal delivery is operated by their neighbors, France and Spain. We have improved Andorra:

• Added 100+ Thoroughfares and 400+ house number points
• Sourced significantly more accurate rooftop points

Austria

Melissa has partnered with Austria Post to use official Postal data for Austria. Being an official postal partner gives us the most up to date and best quality data. For example, our AddressType can now tell you if a door number (Tür) is expected for an address.

Key Numbers:

• 130K+ Thoroughfares
• Over 22.5 million address points with rooftop level geocoding
• Over 170K Subpremises (Stiege)

Great Britain

We have revamped our Administrative Area field so that we consistently return the Administrative County value as defined by RoyalMail. Note that the county value is not used in the mailing address and is not in the mail PAF (Postal Address File) dataset provided by RoyalMail to their partners.

Not all addresses have a Administrative County specified by Royal Mail, so we will occasionally fall down to the Traditional County or the Formal Postal County if the Administrative County is not available.

Along side the Administrative Area, we have cleaned up the CountrySubdivisionCode, which will always return a value that maps to the Administrative County.

Luxembourg

We have converted to a new high quality premium data source for Luxembourg. This data includes the following:

• Over 9000 thoroughfares
• 170K address points with high quality rooftop geocodes
• Boites Postales addresses
• PackUP addresses
• Official ISO 3166-2 Country Subdivision Codes
• Time zones and UTC information

With this new data, we can also apply our advanced address matching algorithms to improve match rates and cut down on false coding.

Mexico

We have completed a major revamp of Mexico. With a population of over 126 million people and the 15th largest GDP in the world, Mexico is a major player in the world economy. This revamp includes:

• New high quality address data including detailed suburb information
• New high quality geocoding data
• Re-architected advanced fuzzy matching engine
• Official ISO 3166-2 Country Subdivision Codes
• Time zones and UTC information

Key Numbers:

• 1 million Thoroughfares
• 12 million address points with rooftop level geocoding
• 126K suburb, locality, and postal code combinations

We have some exciting things we are working on and looking forward to in the next quarter.

CASS Cycle O
Melissa started as a company doing US presort mailing with our Mailers+4 product. With the United States being our flagship country, we have been a CASS Certified partner of the USPS for over 30 years. A new CASS Cycle is now underway and Melissa will be updating our engine and re-certifying our engine for this new CASS Cycle O.

Country Subdivision Code

Country Subdivision Code, also known as ISO 3166-2, is a code for identifying the principal subdivisions of a country defined and maintained by the ISO Organization (https://www.iso.org/) [Put the ISO logo somewhere]. While Melissa returns this subdivision code for most countries, we are undergoing an effort to fill out all 200 countries that have official ISO 3166-2 codes and update them to the most recent definition according to ISO.

New Zealand

We are working on a partnership with NZ Post to access official postal data for New Zealand. Stay tuned for more details soon.
